Preventative Family Dental Care
Preventative Dentistry / Hygiene
Preventative dental care is an important factor in preserving your overall health, regardless of your age. It is critical for the prevention of dental problems such as caries disease (decay) and periodontal (gum) disease.
By practicing good oral hygiene at home and scheduling regular checkups, you can keep your smile bright and healthy. Regular hygiene prophylaxis and examination appointments are an integral part of early diagnostic and preventative measures for many forms of oral problems.
We provide a full spectrum of hygiene and gum treatment services for your preventive needs. Our highly skilled hygienists have years of experience in making our patients comfortable duing their visits.
During your hygiene appointment, our hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth of plaque, tartar (hardened plaque) and remove surface staining. Your gums will be checked for gum disease, and your mouth will be checked for any indication of other diseases.
The hygiene appointment also includes a comprehensive examination to check all of your teeth and dental restorations; identifying potential problems before they become major issues. Usually, X-Rays are required during this examination.
Preventative dental care and examinations are recommended every 6 months but in some cases we recommend prophylaxis every 3 -4 months.
